GFC On the Road has launched a new feature: sharing the voices of our grantee partners and extending grassroots knowledge globally through guest blogging. The following post is from Lai Xinke, Development Instructor of Yunnan Institute of Development. Yunnan Institute of Development focuses on health and education in rural communities in Yunnan Province through HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention programs, health and hygiene education, children’s clubs, primary-school and middle-school support, curriculum development, teacher training, and early childhood development. GFC’s grant supports five early childhood development centers, which use a unique curriculum that integrates basic education, play, and exploration in order to reduce the high attrition rates for minority children and youth.

Baishamo, Yunnan Province, China — March 16 was a sunny day, and a perfect day to celebrate the completion and opening of Yunnan Institute for Development’s new building, containing a preschool classroom and a cultural center, in the Baishamo Village Group. The Global Fund for Children sponsors the preschool and helped fund the construction of the building.
